About Sinéad

Dr Sinéad McCauley Lambe is an Associate Professor in the School of Inclusive and Special Education at Dublin City University IoE. Sinéad is an enthusiastic advocate for inclusive and playful learning in the early years. She strongly believes in the power of puppets and play to engage those learners who need us the most. Prior to joining DCU, Sinéad lectured in the area of Early Childhood Education in Marino Institute of Education and taught for eleven years in St. Vincent’s Infant Boys’ school in North William Street. Here, Sinéad moved into teaching children with additional learning needs, and worked with children with ASD and those experiencing a wide range of emotional and behavioural difficulties. It was this work that ignited Sinéad’s interest in inclusive and special education, educational disadvantage, motor development and early intervention. Sinéad completed a Masters in Educational Disadvantage in DCU and recently completed her PhD there. Her research interests include infant motor development and emergent handwriting development. She is the author of the recently published Move Write programme – a whole-body sensorimotor approach to handwriting.

Sinéad is an executive committee member of the Literacy Association of Ireland (LAI).

Outside of her studies and teaching, Sinéad is a keen runner, and competes with Metro St Brigid’s AC.
